Understanding Influence of Powerplant Component Connection Strategies on Aircraft Engine Structural Deformations

In conventional aircraft design, engine loads are transferred directly from the core and fan case to pylon via mounts. Literature is available on modeling of individual powerplant components, but limited work whole assembled system (engine, pylon, nacelle). The influence structural connections between components overall performance has not been investigated. Herein, a finite element model described can be used assess connection strategies if such arrangements effectively enhance by reducing detrimental deformations (engine carcass bending, rotation, ovalization). method demonstrated for generic high bypass ratio focusing thrust reverser unit. identifies modified attachment scheme rear turbine casing inner barrel unit, which reduces across multiple loading scenarios. Maximum reductions 97 96% have observed in bending ovalization, respectively.
